The Best Memories Happen Between the Sights

The Best Memories Happen Between the Sights
Beyond the Landmarks
I’ve taken the photos. I’ve stood in front of the iconic places, the postcard scenes. And I’m grateful for those moments—but when I think back on a trip, those aren’t always the memories that rise first.
It’s what happened between the sights that stays with me. The in-between spaces. The pauses.
The Magic of the Unplanned
A missed bus that turned into a magical walk through a sleepy town. A random stop at a bakery where I had the best pastry of my life. A long dinner with new friends where the night stretched beautifully past the plan.
These moments weren’t on the itinerary. They weren’t “the thing to see.” But they became my favorite part.
Letting Life In
I used to plan for highlights. Now, I plan for space. Space to let something unexpected happen. To wander. To linger. Because that’s where the real memories live—not just in where I went, but in how I felt when I didn’t rush through it.
Travel taught me that the best stories are rarely the ones we set out to write. They’re the ones that happen while we’re simply living.
